The Government approves 1.32 billion euros for self-consumption, batteries and renewable air conditioning.

The Council of Ministers has approved RD 477/2021 approving the granting of aid for self-consumption and storage through renewable energy sources, as well as the implementation of renewable thermal systems in the residential sector.

The initial budget is 660 million euros, which can be increased to 1,320 million euros as the autonomous communities exhaust their allocations, all within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

This aid will be distributed as follows:

  1. For self-consumption facilities, up to 900 million.
  2. Storage behind the meter, up to 220 million.
  3. Air conditioning with renewable energies, up to 200 million.

The autonomous communities and the cities of Ceuta and Melilla must make the corresponding calls within a maximum period of 3 months from the entry into force of this Royal Decree, which will be in force until December 31, 2023.

The incentive programs are as follows

  1. Program 1. Self-consumption and storage in the service sector.
  2. Program 2. Self-consumption and storage in other productive sectors, such as industry or agriculture and livestock.
  3. Program 3. Incorporation of storage in existing renewable self-consumption in economic sectors.
  4. Program 4. Self-consumption and storage in the residential sector, the public sector and the third sector.
  5. Program 5. Incorporation of storage in renewable self-consumption in the residential sector, public sector and third sector.
  6. Program 6. Implementation of thermal renewable energy installations in the residential sector.

Investment in equipment and materials; civil works; electromechanical, hydraulic, control and auxiliary equipment; management and monitoring systems; drafting of projects, technical reports and project management, among other actions, are eligible for subsidies. The removal of asbestos roofs and the installation of canopies to optimize the use of space will be valued.

Aid intensity

The intensity of the aid will vary depending on the beneficiary and the type of installation.

Beneficiaries from municipalities with less than 5,000 inhabitants will obtain an additional 10% in their allocation.

These aids join other aids currently in force such as the MOVES II and MOVES III Plans for electric vehicles and chargers and the PREE Plan for the energy rehabilitation of buildings.
