The
Inter-American Development Bank, main multilateral development institution focused in Latin America, has awarded the contract
“Consulting for the promotion and implementation of Distributed Generation (DG) and Energy Efficiency (EE) programs under Public Private Partnership (PPP) models” to the two Spanish firms
Bettergy S.L. and
IMCW Europe S.L., both headquartered in Malaga, Southern Spain.
Through this contract, with a duration of 11 months, the two firms will work together to support the implementation of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) models as mechanisms to finance and promote different types of Distributed Generation, mainly on-grid, and residential, commercial and industrial Energy Efficiency projects nationwide in four target countries: Costa Rica, Ecuador, Bolivia and Argentina.
The study will take into account aspects such as
- Electricity tariffs.
- Structure of the electricity sector.
- Legal framework of PPPs.
- Use of electricity in the target sectors.
- Regulatory framework.
- Local manufacture of efficient equipment and the age of current equipment.
- The institutional framework in the sector.
The scope includes the dissemination of the information obtained and the results of the work through different webinars.
Thanks to its experience in similar services, Bettergy takes a leap forward with the objective of doing its bit in the development of energy efficiency and distributed generation not only at the national level, but also across borders to Latin America and the Caribbean.
Bettergy together with IMCW Europe, will carry out an exhaustive analysis of the current situation in each of the countries mentioned above, in the field of public-private partnership models.
Among many other aspects, this union will achieve an initial basis for the future implementation of projects related to Energy Efficiency and Distributed Generation
